Humans are energetic beings and what that means for healing.

You may have heard the phrase “humans are energetic creatures.” While this idea might be challenging for some given the materialistic society we find ourselves in, it reflects a fundamental truth about human experience: we are beings of energy, both surrounding and including our physical bodies. When we interact with others both verbally and physically we are also actually connecting with each other’s energy fields. Emotions like anger, anxiety, and depression are all forms of energy, just as happiness, joy, and gratitude are. Still skeptical? That’s okay. Let me share a few common experiences that highlight how energy fields can influence us.

Have you ever been in a crowd at a sporting event, feeling the collective energy of the fans urging their team on? The players on the field respond to this shared energy—it’s a transfer of energy that you can actually feel. This is one reason home ground advantage is a real thing for sports teams. You might have experienced it yourself.

Not into sports? Maybe you’ve been at a concert, caught up in the emotion of a song or participating in a singalong. That sense of euphoria, that heightened awareness, is a direct result of energy fields at work. The energy created by the crowd or the performer can linger long after the event, lifting people’s spirits for days.

Energy dynamics are perhaps most visible in groups, but they also play out in one-on-one interactions. Often, people first notice an energy shift when an encounter with someone leaves them feeling drained. On the surface, the interaction may seem perfectly normal, but beneath it, an energy exchange has taken place. If you have spent time in the company of someone who is depressed you might feel the heaviness in all their interactions and in yourself. This is because they have a dense, heavy energy.

On a more personal and basic level, think about how you feel when you’re attracted to someone. You might find yourself thinking about them in a certain way, or even feel a noticeable shift in your body—a heightened awareness, a buzz, or a sense of vitality. This is also energy at work.

Each of us is born with a unique energy field, shaped by our environment, upbringing, and life experiences. When we experience emotional or physical harm, and those experiences are not fully processed, they leave behind energy imprints that tend to be denser. Over time, these unresolved energies create patterns in our thoughts and emotions, such as “I’m not good enough” or “nothing ever works out for me.” This stuck energy can manifest as mental struggles, emotional difficulties like anger and depression, or even physical ailments like chronic pain or debilitating conditions.

It’s important to understand that there’s no blame or judgement in this process. Our energy fields are influenced by our collective experiences—our families, our karma, and our life’s journey. As a popularised Zen teachings says, “It is what it is.” What I want to convey is that it’s possible to shift these energy patterns, which can in turn shift our moods, thought patterns, and even improve physical health through energy healing.

In my practice, I use focused attention and my own energy field to interact with the client’s own energy field helping to release and transform stuck energies. The results can be profound. I’ve helped clients worldwide reduce chronic pain, increase their energy levels, alleviate stress, improve surgical outcomes, shift limiting behaviors, let go of destructive emotional patterns and even profoundly change medical outcomes.
